MADE IN VIETNAM LEAN MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY “Effective solutions to help Vietnamese businesses overcome the crisis, develop sustainably during and after the Covid 19 pandemic”

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh

GKM . Institute of Lean Management

The COVID-19 crisis has caused many businesses to be severely affected both at home and abroad. In the context that Vietnam’s economy is gradually adapting to the “new normal”, businesses are constantly changing their strategies to cut wasteful costs while ensuring operations while balancing growth factors. Sustainable growth is not easy. Understanding these concerns, Made in Vietnam Lean Management Institute continues to accompany business owners in the 50th Lean CEO Program to help businesses create a breakthrough in their organization according to the School of Management. Lean Tri Made in Vietnam with the theme of Pure Vietnamese Administration.

The Lean CEO Program Made in Vietnam with a completely new theme of Pure Vietnamese Governance focuses on promoting the creation of a Governance foundation for Vietnamese businesses to develop Made By Vietnam (MBV) products in a sustainable way. In Module 1, Associate Professor-Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh emphasized the role and importance of Tam The to businesses. Since then, businesses have installed their own lean thinking system to identify the causes and implement solutions to problems in their organizations. These big issues are all concerns, visible and invisible pressures of business managers.

Through vivid real-life examples in each enterprise, Assoc. people who understand and work well with Gene GKM (Gene to create Made by Vietnam). This is the foundation of the business.

Many entrepreneurs are very interested in module 2 (Lean Management Made in Vietnam), Mr. Dao Huy Phong, CEO of FNC Food and Nutrition Development Consulting Joint Stock Company shared:

“I plan to go home and immediately conduct quality training, which my company did quite poorly before. In the past, at my company, I rarely shared with employees about the meaning of their work to society. My business goal is really to make good products for society, but I haven’t done a good job of inspiring employees, so you guys are just thinking a lot about rice and money. When I finish the lesson, I will share it.”

Nguyen Van Hung, another CEO also shared after coming to module 2:

“I was very interested in the revenue-cost formula, and had a different perspective on it. I wonder why he doesn’t emphasize revenue? Then I realized that revenue sometimes depends on market and selling price, I can’t completely decide, but I can certainly influence cost adjustment.

Identifying and separating real and wasted costs is revolutionary for me. I enjoyed the lecture on Invisible Waste. I see myself as having better cognitive abilities. The more I lift, the more invisible waste is reduced. The process of growing awareness is also the process of developing yourself and your practice.”

With module 3 (Problem Solving Science), a CEO in Quang Ninh expressed his enthusiasm:

“Before, I didn’t like working with a lot of people. Therefore, I often look for areas related to investment because I can decide on my own. Recently, I started taking part in the business with my family. In the fields I am required to participate in order to learn and gradually transfer. For me, this creates a lot of pressure and sometimes quite shocking. I face a lot of problems to solve.

After studying this module, I feel much lighter. I know how to break down and have a set of scientific methods for solving problems. I had an orientation on what I needed to do and how to solve the problems of my business.”

Interested in module 4 (Lean Strategic Management Made in Vietnam), Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, CEO of Greenteck shared:

“A good strategy drives the value of the business. Your business will bring employees things like finance, life, and joy. When employees themselves understand these strategies, they will stick with and accompany the business. The CEO himself also really needs to know where he wants the business to go, for the business to be sustainable.”

Another CEO stated:

“In the past, at the old company, when I talked about strategy, I only saw how much sales, how big the company was, how big it was… but didn’t know what I learned today.

Small companies often don’t come up with a strategy, and before this lesson, my company didn’t do it either. I think that entrepreneurs must really have a passion for society and with what they are doing, have ambitions, then they have enough energy to pass on to others. In the past, someone urged me to do a strategy, a mission… but only today, I understand that. I will build a strategy based on what is possible, not shouting and putting it in the corner.

Strategies with Attitude will reduce society’s problems, Attitude is the foundation for building a strategy that entrepreneurs should aim for.”

With module 5 (Lean HR Management), a CEO shared:

“I learned the lesson that if you want to go fast, you have to go slow and you need to start right. All need from the root up. In the past, I often wanted to take shortcuts, listen to all kinds of advertisements for courses and procedures, then throw them all away and not use them. I feel that if I want to have good personnel, I have to start from the beginning, do it from the ground up. If you just want to skim personnel, it will not be sustainable, but if you decide to be a long-term company, you have to be methodical from recruitment, probation to personnel training. It is also very important that the HR system matches the foundation and philosophy of the business.”
