Attending the seminar, from the organizers there was Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Standing Vice President of VNU, Chairman of the Science Club of VNU; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hieu, Head of Organization and Personnel Department, VNU, leader of Francophone International Institute, leader of GKM Lean Management Institute. The guests included entrepreneurs, businesses, scientists, lecturers, PhD students, graduate students, students from inside and outside of VNU.
The discussion of the seminar was coordinated and led by Dr. Nguyen Tran Thuat, Executive Vice President of the Scientists Club of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
At the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh talked about the difficulties and hardship in the practice of business management of Vietnam in particular and developing countries in general, about the aspiration to create the philosophy and management technology of this high-class Made in Vietnam brand (this aspiration and wishing have been created by the participating in management activities in the family company since 1991 and has become increasingly intense). He also shared about the journey of nearly 30 years of research and development (including 13 years of research and working in Japan, European countries and North America) and the journey of verifying and publishing the Made in Vietnam Lean Management philosophy (The Made in Vietnam Finest/ Lean Management Philosophy) in the international arena and the journey to create the Made in Vietnam Lean Management DNA Set to effectively solve complex problems in the practice of organizational management in Vietnam.
In addition to affirming the academic value of Made in Vietnam Lean Management philosophy in the international arena, Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology has been applied effectively and sustainably in thousands of all sizes and types businesses and organizations in three regions of the country during the past 9 years, depending on the number of DNA deployed, deployment level, and penetration capacity of each enterprise, the effectiveness of this technology transfer can be mentioned as: increasing revenue, increasing profit, increasing the quality of products and services, increasing income for employees, creating a real learning environment, making real products, real service, bringing happier life to all members of the organizations.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Doan Vu Long (Deputy Director of Lao Cai Copper Refining Branch under Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group) shared: “In 2017, after Mr. Hoang Ngoc Minh who is director of the branch approached Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology of GKM Lean Management Institute, the Branch has cooperated with GKM Lean Management Institute to train leaders in the Branch. The management technology transfer training program was very practical for manufacturing enterprises like ours. Although I just applied 3 genes (out of 9 genes) at level 1 (out of 9 levels), the results are very encouraging. The thinking of leaders at all levels has changed markedly, significantly reducing waste to increase productivity and revenue. After 3 years, enterprise productivity increased by 30%, increased income for employees from 18-20% (worker’s salary from 9 million VND/person/month to 12 million VND/person/month). The overlap in the process of production management was cut. The units were restructured from 7 workshops to 5 workshops, from 9 departments to 7 combined departments. At Lao Cai Copper Refining Branch, our Party organizations and mass organizations also propagate and educate about Tam The, about Made in Vietnam Lean Management Thinking through thematic activities for employees to maintain and implement. We look forward to continuing to coordinate with the GKM GKM Lean Management Institute to organize and deeply deploy the remaining genes at higher levels, thereby spreading this technology to production units in Minerals Corporation as well as the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group”.
Mr. To Duc Hai (Chairman of Weather Plus, a startup in the business of weather forecasting products) affirmed: “Thanks to the application of Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology of Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh, our company has found and changed the core values and philosophies of our business, and enhanced the training of Tam The for employees in the company. As a result, employees are more united and attached to the company, labor efficiency is improved, and human life is happier. The attitude is not only in the enterprise but also in the family life of the employees, bringing a happier life to the company’s members”.
Mr. Tran Minh (Vice Principal of the Administrative Officer School of the Ministry of Information and Communications) shared: “After attending the training program on Made in Vietnam Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology at GKM Lean Management Institute, I applied it immediately and also for myself, my family, the activities of the Party at the school. Regarding the current governmental administration, the State is developing a digital transformation program for applying at all sectors and levels. This work includes many schemes and projects, in order to successfully implement these programs and projects, awareness raising of the implementers in the apparatus is extremely necessary. The gene that I would like to recommend to implement training in these projects is Tam The Gene of Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology, this is the key to change and open the awareness of staff who implement the projects. I believe that the DNA set created by Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh is the most complete and timely solution to solve the problems of the organization and society today. I hope this DNA will be supported by the State, creating timely conditions for Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology to be promoted and integrate its strengths to create a better and better Vietnamese society”.
In addition to implementation at enterprises, Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology can be applied creatively in all practical activities of universities in Vietnam (research, training, support services) so that universities can further develop in depth, create quality R&D human resources, and lead the research and development sector in basic and pre-applied research, resulting sustainable connection with enterprises for creating pure high-class Vietnamese products and services (Made in Vietnam, Made by Vietnam) practically contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
This technology can also be applied in Vietnamese families, contributing to creating a happy life, supporting parents with a method of raising children with goals, aspirations, and the desire to create high-class Vietnamese products and services.
The discussion has passed with emotions, many plans and wishes to be supported by VNU, so that the members of the VNU Scientists Club, experts from the GKM Lean Management Institute can cooperate to implement an effective PPP cooperation model cooperating with business leaders and practitioners to accompany in the transfer of Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology to Enterprises and Organizations including schools, universities, hospitals, public agencies and etc to create useful products and services for society, making practical contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in particular and the country of Vietnam in general.

Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh founded the Made in Vietnam Lean Management philosophy (Made in Vietnam Finest/Lean Management Philosophy) while working at the Manufacturing Technology Development Center of Toyota Corporation in Japan. Returning to Vietnam after 13 years of living, studying and working in the field of technology transfer in Japan, Europe and North America, on the basis of this philosophy, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh has developed and created Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology (Made in Vietnam Finest/Lean Management Technology) and has been effectively transferring the technology to organizations in Vietnam. Up to now, thousands of enterprises in Vietnam (including Vietnamese enterprises and FDI enterprises, from small to large scale) have been successfully applying all or part of this management technology.
In addition to businesses, families and society, Made in Vietnam Lean Management Technology can be creatively applied at Vietnamese universities for school activities such as training, scientific research, operation management and technology transfer for making practical contributions to the country’s sustainable economic development. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh received a PhD of Business Administration degree from Nagoya University, Japan (winning 6 Nobel prizes), Master of engineering and technology from Tokyo University (winning 17 Nobel prizes) and holds a bachelor’s degree in maintenance and customer care services at Honda International College, led by the founder of Honda Corporation, Honda Shoichiro as the first principal. Before studying in an international environment, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Dang Minh graduated in mechanical engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and BA in English from Hanoi University of Foreign Languages.
